Student Insights
FlightPath
FlightPath I is an internship for current juniors and seniors and recent graduates who want to fly for UPS. FlightPath II is a 36-month program of mentoring and experience-building that helps participants reach the benchmarks needed to interview with UPS Airlines. Interns are paid based on credit hours and flight experience, and TSA-qualified interns receive UPS jumpseat travel privileges.
Not a first flying job
Like other large cargo airlines, UPS hires pilots who already have airline, military, or comparable turbine experience. Most people get there after years at a regional airline, a smaller cargo operator, or in the military.
Louisville and dispatch
UPS Airlines is headquartered in Louisville, and UPS describes Worldport as the center of its global air network, with more than 20,000 workers. Airline dispatchers need an FAA aircraft dispatcher certificate: under 14 CFR 65.53 you can take the knowledge test at 21 but must be 23 to hold the certificate.
AI Outlook
Pilot, dispatcher, and A&P technician jobs are FAA-certificated roles. Data and AI tools support planning and maintenance analysis but do not change the certificate requirements for entry.
