Overview

Supernal is Hyundai Motor Group's U.S. advanced air mobility company, based in Irvine, California, which has been developing the S-A2 electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft. The company paused the program in September 2025 after its CEO and CTO departed, and laid off about 80 percent of its staff in February 2026. In May 2026 Hyundai and Korea Aerospace Industries signed an agreement to jointly develop an advanced air mobility aircraft, with Supernal leading design and engineering. Students should expect very limited hiring until the program restarts.
