Delta Air Lines
Major U.S. airline based in Atlanta, with a named pilot career path (Propel) and an in-house maintenance organization, Delta TechOps.
Overview
Delta Air Lines is one of the largest U.S. airlines, headquartered in Atlanta with about 100,000 employees. Its Propel program gives college aviation students and flight instructors a defined route to a Delta flight deck through Endeavor Air, Delta's wholly owned regional airline. Delta TechOps, the airline's maintenance division, hires FAA-certificated Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) technicians and partners with more than 50 A&P schools. Most internships and co-ops are based in Atlanta.
Student Insights
How Propel works
Propel has a Collegiate and CFI path, a Scholarship path for nominees from Delta affiliate organizations, and a Company path for current Delta employees. Selected pilots interview once and receive a Qualified Job Offer. After reaching ATP minimums they join Endeavor Air, Delta's wholly owned regional, and progress to Delta through Endeavor's Career Advancement Program, which includes at least 24 months of active service as a captain. You need an FAA first-class medical and U.S. work authorization without sponsorship.
Maintenance entry routes
Delta describes three routes to becoming an Aircraft Maintenance Technician: working at Endeavor Air first, a military route, or graduating from one of over 50 Delta partner A&P schools (programs typically run 18 to 24 months). A TechOps apprenticeship is open to people 18 or older who are enrolled at a partner A&P school. The Aircraft Support Mechanic role is a separate route for military veterans who have aircraft maintenance experience but not yet an A&P licence, qualifying through FAA Form 8610-2 and an eligibility test.
Dispatch
An FAA aircraft dispatcher certificate is required. Under 14 CFR 65.53 you can take the knowledge test at 21 but must be 23 to hold the certificate. Airlines generally hire dispatchers who already hold the certificate.
AI Outlook
Pilot, dispatcher, and A&P technician jobs are FAA-certificated roles. Data and AI tools support planning and maintenance analysis but do not change the certificate requirements for entry.
