Albedo
U.S. aerospace company developing Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO) satellite buses for space missions.
Overview
Albedo builds satellite buses designed to operate in Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO), at altitudes significantly lower than traditional satellites. The company originally planned its own constellation for very high-resolution optical and thermal imagery and flew its first satellite, Clarity-1, in 2025. In October 2025 it left the commercial imagery business to focus on selling its flight-proven VLEO buses to defense, communications, and imaging payload operators, and is preparing a second VLEO mission for a 2027 launch.
AI Outlook
Albedo is a hardware-focused VLEO satellite bus maker; its earlier plans for AI-driven analysis of its own imagery ended when it exited the commercial imagery business in 2025.
